Getting the ISO
The ISO lives in the #vgpu-os Discord channel: become a member, join the server and connect Discord to YouTube.
This documentation covers vGPU OS 0.1.2, in alpha. Screens and commands may change between versions; to see the installed version, use vgpu-os version.
vGPU OS is not sold separately or downloaded from this site: the ISO for each version is downloaded with the Gerar meu link de download (Get my download link) button, in the #vgpu-os channel on the Universo Hackintosh Discord, available to members of the Hackintosh - vGPU OS tier.
There are three steps, in this order:
- become a member of the Hackintosh - vGPU OS tier on the YouTube channel;
- join the Discord server through the official invite;
- connect your Discord profile to YouTube, so Discord recognizes that you are a member.
Important
The server's rooms, including #vgpu-os, only appear after all three steps. Just joining the server does not unlock the download: without the YouTube connection, Discord has no way of knowing you are a member.
1. Become a member
Membership is done on the Universo Hackintosh YouTube channel, through the official link (opens in a new tab). Choose the Hackintosh - vGPU OS tier: it is the one that gives access to vGPU OS.
Access lasts as long as the membership is active, and vGPU OS may only be used during that time: if the membership is canceled or not renewed, it must be removed from the computer (see License).
Remember which Google/YouTube account you used to subscribe: it is the one that will be connected to Discord in step 3.
2. Join the Discord server
Accept the invite to the Universo Hackintosh server: https://hackintosh.one/s/discord (opens in a new tab).
You need a Discord account (free). If you don't have one yet, create the account and then open the invite again.
When you join, you see only the public rooms. The member rooms don't appear yet — the next step takes care of that.
3. Connect your Discord profile to YouTube
Discord assigns the member role automatically when the YouTube account that subscribed to the channel is connected to your profile. That is how it confirms the membership.
On a computer:
- Open Discord and click the gear icon next to your name, in the lower-left corner, to open User Settings.
- In the sidebar, choose Connections.
- In the list of available accounts, click the YouTube tile. If it doesn't appear, use the arrow to see all connections.
- A browser window opens the Google sign-in screen. Sign in with the same YouTube account you used to become a member and authorize Discord.
- Done: the account now appears in the list of connections.
On a phone, the path is the same with different names: tap your profile picture, open Connections, and tap Add.
The complete step-by-step guide, with the screens for each version of the app, is in the Discord documentation (opens in a new tab).
Warning
If you have more than one Google account, check which one is connected. An account other than the one that subscribed does not unlock the member rooms.
4. Download the ISO with the #vgpu-os button
Once the member role is assigned, the member rooms appear in the server list. The #vgpu-os channel is read-only: no messages are sent there, and conversations and questions go to #vgpu-os-chat. To download:
- In #vgpu-os, open the pinned message and click Gerar meu link de download (Get my download link).
- The bot replies with a message that only you can see, with the Open download page button.
- The page shows the version, size and SHA-256 checksum of the ISO. Click Sign in with Discord and download.
- Discord confirms your account. If your browser is not signed in to Discord, it asks you to log in; the first time, it also asks you to authorize the app to see your username.
- Back on the page, the file, named in the format
vGPU-OS-0.1.2-amd64.iso(about 535 MB), starts downloading. - When it finishes, check that the SHA-256 of the downloaded file matches the one shown on the page.
Tip
Sign in with the same Discord account that clicked the button. If the browser is signed in to another account, the download is refused, but the link stays valid: log out of that account on discord.com in your browser and try again.
The link is personal and follows these rules:
- it only downloads for the Discord account that generated it;
- it is valid for a single download and expires in 10 minutes if the download does not start — in that case, click the button again to generate another;
- after a download starts, a new link can only be generated 24 hours later;
- up to 5 links can be generated every 24 hours;
- an interrupted download cannot be resumed.
Important
Use a stable connection and let the browser download the file to the end: if the download is interrupted, another link can only be generated 24 hours later.
The link cannot be shared, and each download is logged to your Discord account. The full rules and the data recorded are in Download terms and privacy.
Each new version is also downloaded with that same button. With the ISO in hand, go to Installation.
If the rooms don't appear
- Wait a few minutes and reopen Discord. Role assignment is automatic, but it can take a little while after connecting.
- Check your membership. It must be active and at the Hackintosh - vGPU OS tier.
- Check the connected account. In User Settings → Connections, see whether the listed YouTube channel is the same one that subscribed. If it isn't, remove the connection and redo step 3 with the correct account.
- Check that you are on the right server by joining again through the invite: https://hackintosh.one/s/discord (opens in a new tab).
- If the bot replies that the download is exclusive to members, the role has not been assigned to your account yet: check the items above.
If the problem persists, contact the Universo Hackintosh team through the server's public rooms.
